McAfee McTray.exe issue

I seem to always come across the McAfee issues.

TestComplete 9.31.3889.7 being used.

Here is the new issue we have been seeing in our company.

The company a month or so back updated the version of our McAfee Ent.

So now when we perform an initial script run from TestComplete,

the script runs ok, BUT fails. (Sys.Refresh() seems to trigger ?)

The log will reflect that McTray.exe has crashed.

Hovering the mouse over the red McAfee shield icon, it will disappear.

Here is the only current work-around I have right now:

Here are the steps

   C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\Common Framework

in here

set under properties for:

  UdaterUI.exe

  McTray.exe

set them to run as administrator

kill processes or reboot laptop / desktop

This does not crash the McTray.exe process any more

from initial script runs from TestComplete.

Anyone else experiencing this recent issue?

Or know what may have changed with the McAfee and Testcomplete interaction?

Personally I would suggest you uninstall McAfee altogether... Not only will it cause multiple issues in a test environment, it will also potentially block the Windows Script Host in situations where you need it. If you abnsolutely insist on having an anti virus on a testing machine, steer clear of McAfee, Norton, AVG, and Kaspersky... They are all way too aggressive and in my experience cause horrible slowdowns and problems. Avira seems to work fine here, so does MS Security Essentials.

You can remove McAfee Enterprise from your machine, and its agent, with the remover here: http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/Agent-Uninstallers/ . Then run MCPR.exe (http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/mcafee_consumer_product_removal_tool.html) to remove any traces and restore any changes that were made to the scripting host by McAfee.

The best anti-virus is just to pay attention to what you are doing, there is no substitute for common sense.
