- Ryan_MoranValued ContributorLook here for Microsoft scripting language reference.
Essentially...one is browser based and one is Microsofts implementation using the ECMA standard. - AnneTheAgileContributorty, yes I read that explanatory page. I cannot see any reference as to the differences, which is specifically what I'm interested in.
Also, though that particular page talks about JScript, many other pages which are referenced immediately from it, eg [1],[2], merely say "JavaScript." That worries me that the term is very generic and may or may not indicate true JScript. I need help to decipher this. Moreover, those pages show no context, eg no tree root node of docs in which I can be certain of getting JScript.

//edit; clarify ref'd pages' problems - simon_gletRegular ContributorHi Anne,
This will give you a detailled description of the limitations of JScript: Test Complete Supported Scripting Languages JScript
Class scope, Exception Handling, etc
Sincerely - AnneTheAgileContributor@Simon, that is helpful too! I am still hoping we can find a page about differences JScript vs ECMA javascript. I am new to all the flavors of JS so that would help me alot.

Hi Anne,
TestComplete uses Microsoft JScript 5.7, which is an implementation of the ECMAScript 3 language specification with some non-ECMA additions. JavaScript in browsers is currently ECMAScript 5, I believe. I've found these lists of ECMAScript 5 features:
http://speakingjs.com/es5/ch25.htmlhttp://kangax.github.io/compat-table/es5/
So basically that's the main difference between JScript and JavaScript.
The JScript language reference is in MSDN; here're links with the TOC tree:
JScript Reference
ECMA features in JScript
Non-ECMAScript features in JScript
Note: Features marked as JScript v. 5.8 aren't available in TestComplete.
Hope this helps!
