- TanyaYatskovskaSmartBear Alumni (Retired)Hi Stephanie and Kyle,
Thanks for sharing your opinions! We will take them into account in future. As for the link to the https://my.smartbear.com page, it's located right at the top of each SmartBear.com page.
Perhaps, we need to highlight it better... - kyle_mciverOccasional ContributorI'd like to add that you guys do a fairly poor job of delivering the entirety of the necessary information to the end user (in almost every instance but using upgrading as a perfect example.
If I am going to get a pop up telling me that there is a new version - yes I know I can turn that off - if the process is not going to happen automatically once I am directed to your page there should be some instructions on how to upgrade and a download link. Not just a list of release notes. I get to that page, look at it and say, "great, now what the F*#@$ am i supposed to do? Why am i at this page?"
This list of new features and bug fixes is of only limited use.
Give me the full set of information the first time. - sastoweSuper ContributorIn my opinion, SmartBear's website is not very good. It i s hard to find anything. I keep notes on where stuff is once I learn it for that reason. https://my.smartbear.com/ is where you can authenticate yourself and see what you have licenses and dowload what you want.
CAUTIONARY TALE to people upgrading projects to TC 9 from TC8. Test your projects well before you commit to the upgrade. I am pretty sure that I am not the only one for whom TC 9 simply does not work at all. Long and painful yet unresolved tech support later, and hopefully eventually we will get there. But in the meantime, I can still run my TC 8 project. - TonyMroOccasional ContributorMaybe I missed it somewhere but if I did it must not be very obvious. Why can't I find a link to my.smartbear.com from the smartbear homepage? Why is that portal such a secret?
Gee, I didn't think the portal was such a big secret given that the link is included in the email from Smartbear when you purchase one of their products. Refer to below email snippet...

Hi Sam,
Can you please share the steps to update it? And do we need to uninstall 9.30 first and then install 9.31?
There is no need to uninstall TestComplete 9.30. After you run the installation file of v. 9.31, you will be asked if you want to update the currently installed version. Click Yes to continue the installation process. - smarshallOccasional ContributorIf you have the license for the 9.3 version, then you can go out to the website, download the trial version, it will see your installed version and either upgrade if it can or ask you to uninstall and then reinstall. After the software has been upgraded, then just point it to your license server.

Thank you. - kyle_mciverOccasional ContributorMaybe I missed it somewhere but if I did it must not be very obvious. Why can't I find a link to my.smartbear.com from the smartbear homepage? Why is that portal such a secret?
Every page on the site is too busy and doesn't convey information effectively. Even when it's there it's difficult to extract. Its either obscured by piles of other words or its very vague.

I have an opinion about this. It is speculation at best. But it seems to me that the website is driven almost entirely by sales. The Test Complete product is an awesome product. It is powerful. It surpasses the others that I have looked at by a mile. (To be fair to other products, I am limited in my evaluation scope by those who advertise VB6 support.) But the support organization leaves a lot ot be desired.
I just clicked on the Support link above one more time to see if I could find that page. No love. - samirc23ContributorHi,
We are using test complete 9.30 (licence ver) and want to upgrade it to 9.31.
Can you please share the steps to update it? And do we need to uninstall 9.30 first and then install 9.31?
Waiting for your prompt reply.
Many Thanks,
Sam
