Failed to verify the login request

I successfully installed update 15.78.12.7 on my PC.
However, I'm still encountering the error: "Failed to verify the login request" when trying to access a new virtual machine.

This issue didn’t occur in the past.
Could there be a bug in this version?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Alexis Renaud

  • The “Failed to verify the login request” error usually happens when a key-based license cannot be validated on a VM.

    Quick fixes:

    1. Ensure the license is activated on a physical machine (VM activation isn’t supported).
License Activated on VM Cannot Be Used
    2. Confirm the VM can reach SmartBear license servers (ls1.smartbear.com, ls2.smartbear.com) on port 443.
Connection to SmartBear License Servers Failed
    3. Clear cached license data: %ProgramData%\SmartBear\Licenses and %AppData%\SmartBear\TestComplete.
      Key-based Licensing Troubleshooting
    4. Optional: Activate via command line to bypass PKCE login: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SmartBear\TestComplete 15\Bin" TestComplete.exe /activate "<YourLicenseKey>"

    Run as Administrator.
→ Activating TestComplete License via Command Line

If this doesn’t help, contact SmartBear Support with version, VM type, logs, and a screenshot:
