Chrome v59 Alerts not dertected

Hi,

As soon as Chrome was upgraded to v59 TestComplete stopped recognizing browser alert messages. The Object explorer also removes all objects of the application opened on the browser once the alert appears. Nothing works after that, have to restart the browser. We are using TestComplete v12.1.

Is this solved in the newer versions?

Ali

  • Turns out problem has been solved in TestComplete v12.31.

Installed the new application and extension versions, browser alerts are recognizable now.

Also, previously if an alert was opened and the browser.Close() function was called, it did not close the browser until the alert was dismissed. With TestComplete and Chrome's new version, the browser does close even with browser alerts on the page.

    Cheers!

Just as a note, when a new version of Chrome is released, with a short time, SmartBear will usually have a patch available.  In this case, the patch for Chrome 59 was made available for 12.30.  When 12.31 was released, Chrome 59 support was included in the release. See https://support.smartbear.com/downloads/testcomplete/chrome-patches/

What I would suggest is disable the automatic updates on Chrome so that you won't run into this problem again.  This will give you more control over your test environment and then, when a new version of Chrome is released, you can delay the Chrome update until the SmartBear patch is available.
