Can't select objects on page

Hi,

I"m running eval version  on Windows 2008 with IE 8 

I start a recording, the browser comes up and navigates to my page. So far so good.

I select property checkpoint from the recording dialog. But when I hover over the text I want to check, the entire page is selected instead of just the test object. Any help will be much appreciated.
