I receive the 'Cannot connect to Machine Debug Manager' message when attempting to run scripts. I checked the required 'Launch and Application' settings, and they were what was expected (all users configured had everthing enabled).What is causing the problem?Using TC 8.0 under Windows 7. Previously had TC 7 under Windows XP running with no problems.Additional:Attempted the MSD install and thought it went okay. However, tried again and received "INF Install failure. Reason: Access is denied." Currently a full administrator (or so I think) to the computer.Michael St.Peter

Rename the VS7Debug folder on your disk (as a rule, the folder is located here: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug"), for example, to _VS7Debug.3. Reinstall the Microsoft Script Debugger using the link from the mentioned FAQ article.Does this help?

As for the "Access is denied" issue, I recommend that you ask your system administrator about the actual privileges you have on the machine.

Now for some reason when I start Test Complete every time a dialog comes up asking if the program should be run with administrative privilages. Based on this, I cannot recreate the problem that was occurring before. I appreciate the time that has been spent on this issue.

Did you guys ever seem to find out what causes this issue? I am running TC v8 with XP and I keep getting this error message after running a script. I have tried re-installing test complete. Not everyones gets this message. I tried to rename the VX7DEBUG folder, but I don't have rights.

Thoughts?

Hi Joshua,

Several error messages were mentioned in this thread. Which error do you get?

Did you try reinstalling the Microsoft Script Debugger?

As for renaming the target VX7DEBUG folder, ask your system administrator about this. If you are working as an administrator (which is essential to work with TC), you are supposed to have permissions to rename folders.
