Github service account settings not visible on a free plan account?

Originally posted by user glennsc to the Stoplight Community on 11/07/2022 at 15:15 ET.

I was going to test the service account connection but am unable to see the "Control Service Account" section as described here https://meta.stoplight.io/docs/platform/git/service-accounts#add-a-service-account-to-your-project

Is this because I'm on a free plan as opposed to Starter and above? The docs say "This feature is available for all Stoplight plans, but Stoplight highly recommends it for large teams and organizations."

Or am I just not seeing the service account settings for my project?

Hi Glenn, sounds like you might have a "Stoplight Web Project" vs a "GIT Project" The Stoplight hosted projects are saved/hosted within Stoplight without a connection to your GIT repo and thus do not need the service account settings, whereas a GIT Project is connected to your GIT Repo. Have a look at this page for creating/importing projects... When you create a GIT project, you should have the ability to see the Version Control Service Account on the project settings page.

Sorry, this time with the link: https://meta.stoplight.io/docs/platform/projects/add-projects
