SoapUI 4.0.1 Clean Install: Mac OSX 'beachball of death'

Hi,

I came across SoapUI and wanted to test it out.
I was, however, sorely disappointed by my experience after installation on a Mac OS X system.

I downloaded the .dmg, and ran the installer - all good, then started the application.
It seemed to load well, but I noticed that the browser window was missing a frame (window bar) - then the beachball of death started and did not stop.

The only way to kill the app was a force quit.
Subsequent attempts lead to identical behaviour, but do not even get to load the browser window - an image of what i see is attached.


My system is as follows:

Mac OS X - Snow Lepoard 10.6.8
Java Version:

$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_29"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_29-b11-402-10M3527)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.4-b02-402, mixed mode)


I have a Windows VM, I downloaded and installed the windows version, which works perfectly on the VM.

BUT I do not want to have to use a VM to run software that supposedly supports MacOS ?
Any assistance would be most welcome !!

    I am running the same configuration as the original poster, and while I don't get beachball of death, it doesn't seem like the windowing system in the soapUI is working correctly. I can use the application, load the tutorial project, and click around the Navigator tab and the Interface Properties pane below it.

    I was trying to follow this tutorial on your site: http://www.soapui.org/Getting-Started/w ... ction.html
    but when I double-click on the SampleServiceSoapBinding node nothing visibly happens. The "browser" pane with the loadUI advertisement seems to display on top of everything. I can't find where the Interface Inspector appears, if it does at all.

    This is my first try at using this application and it's not a good first impression.

    soapUI 4.0.1.1
    Mac OSX 10.6.8

    ~ $ java -version

    Hello !

    Is anyone official prepared to repsond to this request ?
    I noticed another similiar issue reported by user: zbuczbuc very recently.

    Whilst I appreciate the other poster letting mw know that this seems ok in the pro version, I want to get used to this software before purchasing it.

    So SmartBear, am i forced to pay for the Pro version to try to find a working piece of your software ?
    and if it STILL doesn't work, will i be refunded ? will you fix it ? or just ignore me ?

    I fully understand that support here is limited, but at least acknowledge or deny that there is any issue !!

    I have exactly the same problems here.
    I've tried also to install the Eclipse plugin version (thinking that relying on eclipse windowing system would be a good idea)
    but It feels like buggy also over there.

    4.02 beta 2 also locks w/ the beachball

    I run soapui on 10.3.6 and 10.3.7 versions of Mac OSX.

    There are sometimes windowing problems and title bar coloration problems especially on the 10.3.6 release.

    The beach ball of death seems to occur for me if I terminate the soapUI starter page before it has completed loading. I have overcome this by disabling the starter page in the preferences.

    There is a work around with which one can still work but this is not a permanent solution.

    1. Open SoapUI free version.
    2. Maximise the window.
    3. Move the mouse cursor to the corner of the advertisement, the tool tip would read 'info on soapUI' or the edge of the advertisement.
    4. One can actually drag this advertisement to one corner of soapUI or actually out of the frame completely.

    I could work this way, as all my request were opening behind this advertisement window.

    Fresh install on a mac of 4.5.1, same issue. Figured I'd try out Soapui to see if our team could make use of it on this project. Doesn't appear to be useable on my Mac. Didn't notice the dates posted here were from last year at first. I can't be troubled to recommend this product for enterprise use, since you can't be bothered to fix UI breaking bugs in your app.
