ReadyAPI 2.0?
So has anyone gotten a chance to use it yet? What are your thoughts so far? I'm in the middle of preparing for a huge series of testing so I haven't upgraded yet.
I wanted to attend the webinar but ended up in meetings and tied up with delivery work. I wonder if it's online as a recording. I'll have to check that out.
I'm holding off until after things slow down a bit. I am eager to see all the differences and improvements.
groovyguy, personally I only tend to upgrade if there is new functionality or fixes I actually need, as I've found it quite a time consuming process to regression test all of our tests with a new version (if it ain't broke, don't fix it.), but saying that I usually do download and give it a try and always keep an eye on the forums for any comments/issues.
Debz, The comment about deprecating the The DataGen test step in favour of the Data Generator data source of the DataSource test step concerns me as well. We primarily use the DataGen test step with script type properties, thus we can collect together a number of related properties each generated by it's own independent Groovy script. It does not seem that there is a direct replacement for the DataGen script type property. Also I would like to understand what SmartBear mean by "Deprecated"? Is it still usable? Will it be removed in a future version? I would be interested in hearing what other people think.
Radford: Typically I do the same, but I'm also eager to see what it looks like and has to offer. I'm also hopeful it can solve some of the memory issues I routinely run into.
@msiadak I've heard on the webinar that it will be recorded. I think it usually takes a week or so before it is being shared based on the past ones I attended. Anyway, here's the link they shared: What's New in Ready API 2.0
@Radford I've checked the link they provided about Data Generator It seems they have a lot of types to choose from. Normally things can be upgraded but what happens when one opens the project saved in 2.0, using an older version would be a bit of a question mark on our end. Our client have a different version compared to ours already and it's not that easy to request people to upgrade or downgrade. We also have plenty of Groovy on our end.
Though I'm not the one directly working on it, I think it will take some getting used to adjusting to the new changes. The display for the test results and having the additional windows for properties look nice. I hope someone develops a plugin so that the results display on tiles can also be achieved with Jenkins results/reports. Let's just hope nothing breaks later on our existing projects ;-)
...sorry, I replied last night but for some reason, it only appeared on the email notification but not here on the thread.
