Collaborator Client Version vs Server Version

Sorry if this has been asked already.

We're about to upgrade our server to V.10.1.

Is there a client version minimum that should be used?

Or can as long as the client version is not greater than the server version we should be ok?

Just wanted to make a note of this and let our users know.

Thanks in advance!

    Hello.

Collaborator server is backward compatible with a certain number of earlier versions of Collaborator clients. Namely, 10,1 server can work with 7.x clients.

You can check the Minimum Client Build setting of Administrator Settings to find the number of the oldest stable client application.

We've upgraded our server to the latest 11.2 version.

I noticed in the release-notes that it says that with 11.0, Collaborator no longer supports 9.x and older.

      What exactly does that mean?

Clients 9.x and older won't work with 11.x?  Or will there be some funkiness if someone uses an older client version?

      Thanks!

        Hello, stixbc

Well those limitations are not technical, but relate to customer support policy (generally, our support team provide assistance for customers having the most latest major version or the previous major version of Collaborator).

As for support for old client applications. 9.x clients will work with 11.x server without any issues. Moreover, 8.x and 7.x clients will also work.

You can check the Minimum Client Build setting of Administrator Settings to find the number of the oldest stable client application.

Old clients (upto build #7024) remain functional with newer servers. Obviously, they'll lack new features added to never clients, but still remain working.
