soapUI - GUI is not displaying anything

what version did you download? What OS are you running? Can you check for a soapui-errors.log file in the soapui\bin folder and attach it here if it exists?

I am using soapUI 3.0.1 and running it on windows XP 32 bit

Hi

I have downloaded the executable file and installed it.  A new directory C:\Program Files\soapUI-3.0.1 has been created.
It works fine when I tried the same in my friend's laptop.  Still not sure why it is not displaying anything in my laptop.

hmm.. can you try the latest 3.5 beta release? It has an update JDK that might work better (although it would surprise me..)!?

Was there  a resolution to this issue?  I am having a similar problem where the menus and popups are empty. (see attached jpgs) This started with SOAP UI 3.01.  I uninstalled 3.01 and have now installed 3.5 (on Windows XP) from the windows installer version but I have the same results.  If I set "Use native Look & Feel" under preferences\UI Settings, I find that the menus and pop-up occassionaly display properly.  I can ususally get Menu items to display by opening the menu and dragging the mouse over the menu ... then some of the entries display.  Sometimes putting focus (clicking) on projects in the Navigator will result in the pop-ups displaying.  Sometimes selecting the online help icon from the File Menu will then result in the menus and pop-ups displaying.  Moving the soapUI window will cause the items to not display again.
I have installed the same soapui version on my laptop and it works fine... so this must be something to do with my environment.  Any ideas?

Have you tried binary distribution? Does it behave differently? For the installer version please check if soapui_home/bin/error.log exists and does it have any content?

I have installed the windows installer version from soapUI-x32-3_5.exe ( I also tried with  soapui-3.5-win32-standalone-bin.zip with my JAVA_HOME pointing to jdk1.6.0_14 with the same results).  I have not tried installing the professional 30 day trial version.

The problem feels like the UI is missing paint events.  The menu items and pop-ups work fine ... they just don't show the text.  I also noticed if I do something from the file system like Import Project ... that the "Look in:" drop down list that should show the file system structure has the same behavior (i.e. not displaying the text).  Also context menus (right click) have the same symptom.

I discovered that this issue goes away once I open a project (i.e. viewer is displayed in right window) ... namely I can see the text on all menus and pop-ups.  (I currently have the install from soapUI-x32-3_5.exe).  For me, this make this issue a nuisance since I normally have projects open with either an editor or a viewer in ther right window.

I have installed the soapUI eclipse plug-in and I am facing the same problem.  But it works fine on another laptop.  So I am sure that its something to do with system settings for java applet.  But don't know what to do change to get the screen properly?
