Ability to customize/favorite commonly used test steps
ReadyAPI has this context menu for searching/picking a test step: The 'Most Common' section is static and assumes a lot about what test steps are most common to the user (Shout out to all you SOAP testers out there!). It would be nice if there was a way to customize or favorite which test steps are actually important to me so I don't have to go searching for them every time.thePantz4 years agoContributorNew Idea854Views0likes1CommentPHP code creation

Many ReadyAPI documentation pages collapse/hide the content under a topic heading. I guess this is to give a neat overview of the topics in the page. You can expand/reveal this content by clicking the + button to the left of the topic heading. Similarly, you can click the - button to hide it back. Example -https://support.smartbear.com/readyapi/docs/functional/steps/groovy.html Some topics, have sub-topics and these sub-topics have their own sub-topics i.e. sub-sub-topics. Currently, there is no way to expand/reveal all the content under a topic heading. For example, see the topic "Working with" in the above link. I wish the page had a button to reveal all the content and their nested contents also. That way, I can easily search for some word with ctrl+f. Otherwise, I have to manually reveal each sub-topic under a topic by clicking the + buttons. This is time consuming and irritating. Alternately, you could provide an option to only searches the page. It should be able to find content even in the hidden part of the page. Please fix this!rajs20204 years agoFrequent ContributorNew Idea795Views0likes1CommentUse xinclude to externalize environments/endpoints
We have 5 environments we need to target (CI/CD, DEV, TEST, PROD, SANDBOX). We have 30 apis with new apis on the horizon. On average each project will require two environments (for the Auth api and the api under test). Rather than have 30 copies of the Auth api details (one for each api) we would prefer to externalize "shared" details via the use of xinclude. That way, when/if the Auth api environment/endpoint details change we only have to apply a single update which will subsequently "trickle down" to all the projects that leverage the shared content.waxtell4 years agoSenior Member474Views0likes0CommentsData Source Row Update

I use ReadyAPI 3.0 and can't upgrade for some time. But, in the next versions of ReadyAPI I'd like a feature which allows us to copy the name of a test. This is useful when we want to share it with our teammates. Ex. Do you know why test xyz is suddenly failing? Currently, the workaround is to open the test for renaming and then copy the name. This is how I'd like the feature to work: When I right click a test case and open its menu, Then I should get two options to copy the test name: (1) The test name. (2) The fully qualified test name. (ex. ProjectName.SuiteName.TestName) Text editors like Notepad++, IDEs like Intellij IDEA have had this feature for years. It would be nice to see them in ReadyAPI also.rajs20204 years agoFrequent ContributorNew Idea1.8KViews0likes2CommentsReadyAPI project pane - A separate section for things which you are working on?

So, it would be nice to have an area on the ReadyAPI UI into which I can have only those tests/suites which I will be working on or worked on recently. In cases where the service has taken advantage of the CDATA feature to hide the implementation of the service from the WSDL/WADL. For all my projects I need to add a lot of parameters. I've setup a compare Loop with a few elements that requires linking those parameters manually with other steps. In these steps the list is unsorted whereas this makes it a long term action to link each of them to the right parameter of the next step. e.g. 1) Groovy Script to fetch the file 2) DataSource to fetch some parameters (or all parameters) from that file for each childnode 3) Property Transfer that will link from Source to Target ==> when selecting the Property from Source you have a sorted list as was created in the "Transfers" section left. I'd really like to leverage the Environments feature, but the way in which this information is stored makes it ahuge pain when working with version control.Whenever you add/remove environments, it adds/updates an <environmentSpec> tag to nearly every file in the project, like so: <con:environmentSpec> <con:entry environmentId="be1afc29-0c49-4053-9d51-875611dc4dbc"> <con:authProfile>Inherit From Parent</con:authProfile> </con:entry> </con:environmentSpec> I just tested this using an in-sync copy of our project -- I added a single environment and saved it -- 50 files show as changed -- every single test case XML, all of the XMLs for our endpoints, and settings.xml. Can environment info please be managed in a separate configuration file? Aclean way to modify environments without touching every project file would be ideal. For my project we support different metadata and application configurations on top of different OS and database platforms, so we deal with tons of different environments and the way this is managed makes this feature completely unusable.JustinM896 years agoContributorNew Idea521Views0likes0CommentsReadyAPI: Put the autosave on 1 minute
