QA Complete- please add a metatagging or "label" feature like the one which currently exists in JIRA
In JIRA there is the ability to add labels to Defect/Tickets so that the user can categorize the defects and search them by these categories. Aside from adding another field, is there a way to do this in QA Complete? I noticed a dropdown option called "Tag" in notes but it does not appear to have the same purpose. In other words, let's say each defect has a theme or multiple themes I want to attribute... then I want to search defects by one or many of these themes... If not, is this something that is on the product roadmap for QA Complete? Re JIRA https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/use-labels-to-organize-your-content-724764874.html Example where this has come up in our company: We have asked our users to create "Pain Point" defects outlining issues they have with one of our applications. In some cases there are numerous "Pain Points" and topically there are different categories these items fall under - sometimes they are overlapping (one defect might have themes of SSN and Eligibility, another might have SSN and Security, another might have 834 files and Eligibility etc). If we had the ability to label and organize them, it would be quite helpful. Hi, Name mapping is a cool way to save code room on objects paths. My main concern though is that there are too many of them and it's getting messy, and it's hard to find them in the Aliases list. At the time the Status of a Defect is set to "Resolved", I'd like to have the capability (via an Escalation rule or Workflow) to reset the value of the "Assigned To" field back to the Owner of the Defect. Right now this is a manual process which we often get complaints about. Users ask why the system can't populate the "Assigned To" field programmatically. We have recently purchased the tool and noticed the below limitations / improvements . Feature to assign a TAG / labelsneeds to be added. Assign existing defects to Test cases at the time of execution. Changes made to the test cases in Test sets at the time of executionare no local and are will be reflected in the original test cases. This is defeating the feature of Fast Edit the tool offers. Performance is very slow when trying to load Test sets instances having only 20 test cases. JIRA Integration - Mapping needs to be done on a field level and status level. Field level validations are not working as expected for Custom Fields. For a Text field if length 200 characters when we enter 150 characters the front end validation is telling that there are more than 20 characters in the field. Re-running a failed test set using theRestart Run button (In Run History, click the "Restart Run" button), includes the previously passed test case count in the re-run. Apparently I cannot tokenize my test in QAComplete (QAC) and pass those values to automation via Test Complete. (Case #00190846: ALMQAC SaaS) The ability to incorporate Tokens, passed to TestComplete (TC), would allow me determine my testcases in QAC ( using Token file), instead of having to implement them in TC. It would also let me report test status on a much more granular basis from QAC, instead of having to extract details from TC report. Related: The ability to pass a parameter that is the "Release" would help in test maintenance, as some of my TC scripts may need to behave differently between major releases of the product. It seems that integration between QAC and TC is an afterthought.djames9 years agoOccasional VisitorNew Idea1.3KViews0likes0CommentsAdditional Loss of data/changes warnings

There are many things that I use shared documents for. Some documents I need to link to requirements, some to tasks, some even to test case steps. I want to store documents in a shared location and then be able to link them wherever I want in the application. I also want the link to just reference the newest version of the document. For example, I have a new team member doing their training. I create a task to review our documents on process. Before they get to doing that task, I change a part of the process document, but I want the new team member to see the most updated copy. Currently I have a few options: 1) Upload the document directly to the task, and have to remember all tasks that have that document attached and re-upload everytime something changes (Not a good Solution). 2) Upload the document in the shared documents folder and tell them where to go find it which could also change (Not a good solution) 3) Upload the file in the shared doc section and use the url path generated there to link it to the task - however, if the document updates the url link is no longer a valid link. 4) Create an entirely new website to store all my files and use the UNC Path from that website to link it back to tasks and shared docs and tasks. This seems kind of rediculus considering in the software there is a shared document section. Consider another scenario: I have a lot of test cases that have SQL instructions in them. When the database is updated, I don't want to go edit text everytime with new SQL in all the test cases. This could be solved by creating reusable components for tests (this I think has already been suggested). Or allowing me to upload a text file for SQL that I could attach anywhere I wanted that specific SQL run for a test case. When I update that SQL it would then update all test cases. Thanks - and if anyone has any solutions to this information sharing issue I would love to hear them!placid189 years agoRegular VisitorAccepted for Discussion3.1KViews0likes1CommentEmails sent from the SendEmail test case link show in Notes and History
Hi all, I went through support with a case on this. Basically if you use the Send Email link shown when you are editing a test case to send an email to anyone it shows the content of the email in the History and Notes. There is no way to disable this behavior or make it optional. Normally when you send someone a link to anything in any other application it simply sends it to that person as an email. It does not put the email itself in anything like History, etc. Ideally there should be a way to: \ - enable/disable this behavior, and/or - on sending of the email, optionally tick "Record in Notes/History" (disabled by default) IMHO, the current behavior is peculiar and unexpected. When an Agile Task is complete a corresponding Task Card should not disappear from the Team Task Board. It would, in my humble opinion, be better to simple stay in the Completed column but with a designation of "Done" or some other status that a user could customize or even by color if a user would like to set that. When using boards like this it is common practice to keep tasks on the board in the complete or done column until an iteration or sprint is completed. It should be left up to the user/administrator/ or whomever has the proper rights to clear items from the board. While the reports are useful sometimes what is most valuable is to show a simple board of what is going on and have a conversation with the team/management/ or whomever is asking. When tasks are automatically removed it triggers questions of "what about that thing we were supposed to do?" or "why isn't some task already done?" when in fact it is but based on the visual provided by the board it doesn't even appear that way.tlabl5 years agoContributorDeferred to Support10KViews0likes4CommentsCopy test ID or provide other manner to communicate regarding a specific test during a run

Right now the test ID number and test name are in a blue bar but provide no way to copy them and the "Send Email" functionality isn't test specific. This means having to manually type out a test ID in an email to collaborate with others about. This is inefficient.
