Re: Add Table failing to extract data Being new to TC, perhaps I am unaware of the best way to test an html table against some expected results. I thought perhaps the way described in my opening post was the way to do it..... Is there any other feature of TC that can do this without resorting to coding that you know of? https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/app-testing/web/general/examples/parsing-html-tables.html Thanks. Re: Is there a way to use a test parameter to locate an element? Thank you for your help. Doing it through script and then adding a 'Run script routine' to the test is a good solution. Just wondered if there was a UI way of doing it through on-screen actions, but this will do just fine. Thanks again for taking time to reply 🙂 Is there a way to use a test parameter to locate an element? In the project I am looking to automate, we have pages where I can create a new object with a name through the UI that then appears on main page as a link. The text value of that link is the name of the object. The link only has a class attribute of 'fieldset-edit-link' and no other attributes I could use to id it. If I add multiple objects, I get lots of link as above with the same class attribute. Obviously there could be no links added or one, or many depending on what the test dictates. Mapping one of these links would give me something like '//a[contains(text(), 'My New FieldSet')]'. Is there a way I can do something like add a test case parameter name in that locator in place of the name? So something like this: '//a[contains(text(), $MyTestParamContainingTheNameIAmAfter)]' Then, when I add this object as On-Screen Action, it would then give me the option to select what goes in to that variable in the locator (constant, test parameter, variable, last operation result etc). I am not sure I have explained this very well, but hopefully somebody will get one I am asking 🙂 Thanks. SolvedRe: Trying to test headless execution - Configure Capabilities disabled Thank you both. It looks like I need a Device Cloud plugin license, even to test on my local machine I think? It seems odd, that you would need such a plugin if you are not using crossbrowsertesting.com.... Trying to test headless execution - Configure Capabilities disabled Hello, I am looking to try out headless test execution on our new project. I have read the following documentation: https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/app-testing/web/supported-browsers/headless.html#local Our project is configured for xpath/css, but when I open a new script window and define a function, the 'Configure Capabilities' button on the code editor toolbar is disabled. Any thoughts on what might cause this? Thank you. Add Table failing to extract data Hello all, I am attempting add a table through Stores > Tables > Add Table dialog to that I can do a table compare at a certain point in my test. I have copied and pasted the MappedObject into the Add Table dialogs 'Object' field. When I do that, the dialog temporarily disappears and then returns with a preview of the table in question, all good so far. When I click 'Next', I get a message stating: "We are unable to extract data because this table is not recognized." The table in question is a little complicated, so I tried the same thing with the most basic of tables. Again I get a preview, but then get the same message as above. I am using the latest version 14.72.408.7 x64. Has anyone else experienced this? SolvedRe: Is there any way to customize Aliases node structure? I managed to get this working fairly well. I hadn't quite grasped manual mapping. Now of course it is easy to map an object that for example surrounds a set of menus, and then I can rename that object to 'Menus', and then move all my top level menu items inside that to start building out a more user friendly mapping tree. Thank you for your help. Re: Is there any way to customize Aliases node structure? Hi, thanks for the reply to my question. I have taken a look in to what you said and it looks as though the customization that I was looking for, is only available for the non xpath and css selector option. Is that correct in what I am thinking? The project I am trying to get off the ground will definitely be setup to use xpath and css selectors. Is there any way to customize Aliases node structure? Hi, One of the applications I am need to automate unfortunately is still using frames, so the main home page is made up of 3 frames (left, top, main). This basically means that whenever I click a menu option, it loads the new content in to the 'main' frame of would is basically a home page. The offshoot of this then means that whenever I map an object that is in that frame, it will always end up in my 'pageHome' node in the mapped object/Aliases. I am hoping that there is some option that when on, allows me to create my own nodes in Aliases. This is because the application under test is so huge, that the amount of mapped objects I will have under 'pageHome' node will be bonkers! I know I can drag and drop objects in Aliases, but it would be great if I could create custom nodes like 'pageAdmin', 'pageAddUser', 'pageSearchUsers' underneath 'browser' in the Aliases pane and then drag objects in to these custom nodes so that I can organize them better. Hopefully I am missing something, but it does not look like what I want is possible. I am currently using v14.50.943.7 x64. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Solved
