Copy/Paste and other actions Hang before executing/completing execution during code entry
Version 15.59.7 Using a no internet On-Premise Server license Virtual PC with 4XCPU /16GB Ram /500 GB HDD Since installing the most recent version of Test Complete I am experiencing issues with code entry. I can highlight and copy a bit of code (ctrl-c) the program becomes unresponsive and can hang for several seconds. The when clicking and ctrl-v to paste another hang up ensues. Depending on the time it takes to render the typing on the screen characters may be missing or placed elsewhere. Other than looking up and seeing that the code entry hasn't happened, there is no sign that TC hasn't deigned to spit the code onto the screen. This causes me stress and severe loss of productivity. Very often just clicking into the code and starting to type can cause Test Complete to hang before allowing the typing to show on the screen. This is most annoying at best and can be infuriating. I do not see this behavior in Word, Notepad, etc. This leads me to believe that Test Complete is responsible for this behavior. Prior to this latest installation, using a 'normal' license, (that uses the internet) this behavior was not happening. I believe the VM is adequately equipped. This activity did not occur prior to this installation. Please investigate and advise.16Views0likes1CommentRe: Testcomplete doesn't recognize browser objects, but recognizes non-browser objects.
I am also having similar problems, but with Firefox. We switched from FF 93 OES to 118 OES. The 'Browser' vs 'Process' problems started when we updated to FF 118.0.2. We still have a PC on FF93 and everything works. We also updated a PC to the most recent release of TC, 15.54.3. When running tests on FF 93 everything was fine. We also have 2 PCs running TC 15.10.445 one with FF 93 the other with FF 118.0.2. After testing and reconfiguring a bunch we find the following: TC Ver. 15.54.3 with (at least) FF 102.15 and higher. Browser(“firefox”) Window(“MozillaWindowClass”, PQRS – Mozilla Firefox”,1) ** Note the "bad" behavior started on this PC when we updated FF to 118.02 and then we tested various FF Versions down to 102.15 with bad results in each case. TC Ver. 15.10.445 with FF 93 Browser(“firefox”) UIPage(“chrome://browser/content/browser.xhtml”) Page(“https://mpacs-app-05.mpacs.smil.mil:81XX/mpacs/pqrs”) BrowserWindow(0) Window(“MozillaCompositorWindowClass”), “”, 1) So we are attempting to restore to FF 93. I found an entry in the forum from some time ago that described similar behavior that was resolved by adding the web component. Not the case here as we have diverse installations with web testing installed that began showing symptoms for FF versions higher than 93 OER. We are changing libraries to use MaterialUI. Can SmartBear create custom support for these controls? There are new properties, methods and actions in MaterialUI for which specialized support would be valuable for us to use when creating tests.291Views0likes1CommentRe: Add feature to capture js console and network tab output
If a tester is testing an app on a browser, an error in the Network log or in the Browser Console may well need to be brought up to the developers! We write tests and, unprompted, don't open the Developer Tools to see this information. If a test results in something I don't expect or an TC error that doesn't make sense, I will open theDevTool to check the Network calls and or errors written to the console. Too often the errors are 'found' by the client. This information is quite often GOLD insofar as building quality tests. Creating this capability, as commented above, would open a new channel of automated quality testing.528Views0likes0CommentsRequest adding CSS Selector to extended properties in Object Browser
Please expand Extended Properties to include CSS Selector (if available). I use CSS Selectors 99% of the time to identify web controls for TC. Sometimes overlaying web controls make it difficult to determine the exact control needed for inserting text, finding text, Child Count, etc. Being able to inspect the properties desired and having the CSS information on the same screen would prevent guesswork with 100% accuracy in copying the Selectorand promote speed in coding... at least for me.1.4KViews6likes2Comments
