Re: Objects not recognized on screen
Regarding what got changed in the upgrade? - I'm not a developer, I'm a QA person. But as far as I can tell, this was a major upgrade. We went from V15 to V18 and I'm guessing nearly everything changed. Regarding re-recording the test - I've done that. That's how I know it is only recognizing this as one object. I cannot select the other objects as I'm recording. Regarding mapping twice - I have validated this as well. It is only mapped once and still it is not recognizing the other objects. I think I'm going to have to put in a ticket with SmartBear and see if I can get on the phone with someone who can see it in action and help me.3.4KViews0likes4CommentsObjects not recognized on screen
I have a keyword test which launches an application, logs a user in, then closes the application over and over again using an Excel spreadsheet as a data driven test. We recently upgraded the application I'm logging into and now my script doesn't recognize the login object nor any of the other objects on the login screen (the X to close it, a system dropdown, the user id field, the password field and two buttons, a Login and Cancel. When I execute the MapNew Object functionality it only recognizes the whole login screen as the object. I've tried to pictorially document this in the attached Worddocument. I'm using the version 12.50.4142.7 x64 of TestComplete.Solved3.5KViews0likes8CommentsRe: How can I just click a certain x y coordinate on a screen regardless of object?
No, at this point, an appeal has not been started. The WorkViewApplicationRibbon1001 is the "Main menu" so to speak. It is the very first step in this process. However, you had asked for WorkViewApplicationRibbon and that does not exist. So, I had to give you WorkViewApplicationRibbon1001. I'm not having issues with that step. Step 3 in the document"Dynamically Built Object Names" is where I'm having the issues. Because that is where objects are being built/created dynamically with the different appeal numbers.5.9KViews0likes3CommentsRe: How can I just click a certain x y coordinate on a screen regardless of object?
Marsha_R, I've attached a file documenting the manual steps, TestComplete recorded steps then finally the TestComplete playback steps for you to review. Also, I stopped at step 3 in the playback steps because if I can't get passed that, there's no sense in continuing. Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide. I am testing an application called OnBase. In this particular instance, when I select certain menus and buttons a screen pops. The problem I have is when I record, it is recording specific information from the screen which dynamically changes every time that screen displays a new instance. For example: I recorded something and it built aliases using the number 7431, which happens to be the "appeal number". When that screen is closed, that appeal number is no longer going to be used on that screen, because when that screen is opened again, it will use the next increment of appeal number. Therefore, 7431 will no longer be part of the aliases and TestComplete can no longer find the objects which were on that screen. I need to know how I can just click on an x y location, which will then cause a drop down list and then click again to select a value from the dropdown. I would need to perform this action many times because again all of the objects on this screen have been built using the appeal number which when replayed no longer exist. I would like to do this via keyword testing methods, however, if that's not possible and I can be shown how to do via vbscript, that would work as well. I hope that all makes sense.
