Issues with File Chooser - TestComplete Web
Hi, We are having issues with using either java.awt.FileDialog orjavax.swing.JFileChooser with TestComplete (Web only). We have a link/button on the webpage that opens one of these dialogs. On recording a test, clicking this link will cause the application to freeze. When stopping recordingtheapplication will un-freeze and then crash. Could TestComplete be interpreting these dialogs as desktop applications? And therefore not allowing me to use them as we only have the Functional Web Testing version of TestComplete? Thanks Dan.753Views0likes1CommentRe: Problems with recognizing objects on page, TestComplete 12, 64-bit, IE11
astits a bit relieving to hear that someone else is experiencing the same issue, I also found that this problem started happening after the release of 12.20. Everything worked fine in 12.10. Please let me know how things go with the support ticket. tristaanogreI managed to narrow down to what is really causing the issue. There is a hidden input field in my HTML that has a name="action": <input type='hidden' name='action' value='Login'/> For some reason, if I change the name to something else ("action2") it works! I'm guessing something is going wrong when TestComplete is "scanning" the HTML? As action is a key word in HTML. This can be a problem for us as we are using Struts, and the word action is used a lot in the framework.3KViews1like5CommentsRe: Problems with recognizing objects on page, TestComplete 12, 64-bit, IE11
Thanks for your responses. Another thing to note: I've also found that TC behaves differently when you use a different type of Tree Models in Project properties > Open Applications > Web Testing > Tree Model The tag model seems to work with our application and IE (no slowness, appears to map the objects correctly), however it's not cross-browser supported.3.8KViews0likes9CommentsRe: Problems with recognizing objects on page, TestComplete 12, 64-bit, IE11
Hi Everyone, I have found that the problem relates to the html attribute ID. Our application is using Name attributes to identify controls, and some parts of our application currently don't support ID attributes. I came to this conclusion by putting a div with an id around the login form, TC mapped objects correctly with this change. I'm not sure why it is working in Chrome, the Chrome/TC plug in could be using the name instead of the id. Is there any properties that can be changed in TC that will use Names instead of IDs to map objects? Thanks, Dan.3.9KViews0likes12CommentsRe: Problems with recognizing objects on page, TestComplete 12, 64-bit, IE11
Thanks for your response tristaanogre I have followed the IE set up page you posted. The only thing I couldn't change is the "Enable Protected Mode" setting (due to business IT restrictions on my computer). I didn't think this would be a problem as wehad this setting enabled on a different computer (Windows 7 32bit, IE11) and had no problems, we were also using TC version 12.10 Build 602 on the 32bit PC, and the 64bit PC I am using now is TC 12.20. I have tried running TC and IE in administrator mode. Thanks, Dan.3.9KViews0likes13CommentsProblems with recognizing objects on page, TestComplete 12, 64-bit, IE11
Hi - We have recently installed TestComplete 12 trial version on a Windows 7 64bit PC with IE11. We are experiencing the following symptoms: When clicking on a HTML object(text boxes), TestComplete records the position on the page instead of the ID of the element. There is also a lot of lag when recording (entering data into a text box is very slow). Both of these problems are only there when usingIE11 (works fine in Chrome), however our application supports IE, so we need to test using IE. The attached screen shots show the difference between clicking a text box in Chrome and IE. Notice how in Chrome TC highlights the text box, but in IE TC highlights the whole page. The problemis much the same as the following post, however we did not find a resolution on this page. https://community.smartbear.com/t5/TestComplete-General-Discussions/Testcomplete-11-unable-to-identify-elements-of-web-page-in/m-p/104290/highlight/true#M20819 Thanks, Dan.Solved4.9KViews0likes17CommentsProblems with recognizing objects on page, TestComplete 12, 64-bit, IE11
