ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: How to Clear Logs from ProjectSuite without opening testcomplete Which is why I recommended total Log and Visualizer folder removal. I, like the OP, also save my logs via script, to a central location so it makes sense to do a full clean-up before the next test cycle starts. That is why TC won't generate warning dialog and I don't recommend individual log deletion from the Log folder. Re: How to Clear Logs from ProjectSuite without opening testcomplete I have been doing this for years across several major versions of TestComplete and I have never seen any complaint messages or dialog ever. I ran tests for side effects before I adopted this practice. As this does not jive with your statement, do you have a screen shot to share with us? Re: How to Clear Logs from ProjectSuite without opening testcomplete As shown by earlier replies, it is not easy to do that while the project is running. I have a particular way of doing log (and visualizer) clean up after I have run a batch of tests overnight and happy to clean up for the next run. Hopefully this gives you an option. 1. Use a search app to find the Log and Visualizer folders. I use FileLocater (Lite version also available free) and use the following search regular pattern on the tests directory: ^Visualizer$|^Log$ 2. Highlight the search results and hit DEL - done. Hope that helps. Harnek Re: aqFile.Compare not matching XML files even though they are the same If you are comparing two .xls files with aqFile.compare, you will have even less luck as there is additional meta data stored which can be different even if the two files have identical content. Do a search on this forum and I believe there is some script available that shows how to compare .xls files. Harnek Re: aqFile.Compare not matching XML files even though they are the same The files are the same and also do differ - the context is important. If you compare byte by byte, i.e. a binary compare, they are one byte different in size. There is an additional non visible character after the "NINO" string: </Text> <Text Name="Text20"><TextValue>NINO </TextValue> This is 0x0D and the other is 0x0D 0x0A - very common issue with different line endings. The size differs and that is enough to fail a binary compare. See image Contextually, if you look at them as XML files and look at the content in that context, the relevant content is equal. I suspect you need to do a line by line comparison but even that is not a true XML context sensitive comparison as different formatting may throwthe compariosnoff.. A proper comparison would be to parse the XML file with an appropriate driver or library and compare in the true context. Hope that helps. Harnek Re: Standalone object spy I requested this feature quite a while back as well (ver 7 days !). It is often critical to use the object spy on PCs that have only TestExecute installed. This allows for faster and targeted triage of issues encountered during test runs. My preference is for a standalone utility as first preference, and object spy as part of TestExecute as a second choice. Re: Need brief notes when minor point releases are done This post has been moved to Features Request: https://community.smartbear.com/t5/TestComplete-Feature-Requests/Need-brief-notes-when-minor-point-releases-are-done/idi-p/130927 Thanks, Harnek Need brief notes when minor point releases are done We have TestComplete 12.10.590 which was released not too long ago. The "check updates" option showed no new updates available. However, the customer portal shows that a point release was made a week ago - version 12.10.602 - which I have installed. The "what's new" documentation is identical to the 12.10.590 release. I have 3 related requests: 1. The "check updates" feature should highlight this situation. Perhaps show the current version and the available version ? 2. On the customer portal, there should be a link next to each product and version that displays the "what's new" documentation so that we can decide whether to download and install the update. 3. For minor point releases, an abbreviated note mentioning what's changed would be appreciated if the full "what's new" documentation is not available. Appreciate if others can chime in on this. Regards, Harnek Re: Unable to simulate "tab" key navigation on Oracle forms We use a common function in our test framework for Oracle Forms testing. In that function, we use the SetText function of the target object to insert values. Then we use the Keys function to send a TAB. This has worked well since TestComplete version 7 to 12. Also, you may consider adding a small delay or checking for some object availability after the TAB is sent as it may trigger some processing. Harnek
