Test Complete report logs unnecessary messages and events in the report - .mht file
Hi All, We are executing test complete (version 10.3) scripts using continuous integration tool - Cruise control .Net. We use test execute to execute the projects and reports are generated and displayed in CruiControl projects. when we check the reports (basically .mht file generated by test complete), we observe a lot of messages, events being logged as part of the report. How can we exclude them from logging in the report (we can uncheck them in the report once it is generated) even before it is generated ? Is there a command line parameter for test execute OR is there a project settings in test complete which can be set. Test Execute Command line: testexecute.exe <<Project name>>.pjs /r /p:project /exit /DoNotShowLog /SilentMode /el:"Reports.mht" please let us know how to resolve this. Hi All, I have the following versions of test complete and test execute installed on the automation environment. After executing tests, test execute hangs - test execute icon is not found on the right top corner of the screen but the process still remains in the task manager, hence the project doesnt complete execution failing to generate reports. Test Execute Version - 9.30.3373.11 Test Complete version - 9.30.3373.7 Kindly assist in resolving the issue. Regards, Chethan2.4KViews0likes1CommentRe: Issue with Test Execute closing processes
Hi All, After observing the issue on the automation server, we have found that cmd.exe process is started along with test execute but since this doesnt close, test execute doesnt stop execution. Our implementation: CruiseControl .net triggers a batch file which has the test execute command line to run the tests. Please assist us in resolving the issue. Hi All, I am facing an interesting issue which i would like to detail out below: - I have around 20 projects in test complete which does functional automation. Each project in test complete points to a feature in our application under test. - We use cruise control to execute by invoking test execute command line as mentioned below: "c:\Program Files (x86)\SmartBear\TestExecute 9\Bin\TestExecute.exe" C:\sand\FunctionalTest\<<category1>>.pjs /r /p:project1 /testitemgroup:feature1 /exit /DoNotShowLog /SilentMode /el:"reports.mht" - We have been executing / scheduled tests execution for the past 5 months and was completely working fine. For the past 1 week, we have been facing the following issue: 1. Cruise control .net expects test execute to complete execution and pass on the success code so that the project build (Cruise Control terminology) completes and moves on to the next scheduled execution in the queue. But sometimes, test execute process hangs (basically closes the project after execution) and waits for a long time (not sure what it waits for) and the execution used to complete after we manually kill the process. After doing R & D on why this issue used to occur, i figured out that cmd.exe process was opened by one of the tests (many tests may be) and since that doesnt close, test execute keeps waiting and hence the issue - in order to fix this issue, in the clean up method of every project, i have implemented a small code snippet which looks for cmd.exe and kills it so that test execute can complete execution. But this issue still persists - although close cmd.exe works, test execute still hangs. I have checked the automation server and upon manually closing cmd.exe (end process tree from task manager) would complete execution. once this issue occurs, this continues for other categories and when we restart, it doesnt occur for a while. I guess test execute is trying to close all processes opened by it and hence the wait. Is there any way that i can solve this issue - may be an option which can kill all processes opened by test execute which can complete its execution. Note: cmd.exe is added as a tested application in test complete project. Kindly help me resolve this issue. Hi, I have multiple project suites (~20) in testcomplete and each project suite has ~50 tests which is run n a weekly basis. Now that we are adding more and more tests on a daily basis, we would like to branch our environments into automation scripts development and production environments. we would want to add newly developed scripts to the codebase and run them on a daily basis on the dev environment. Once a week / fortnight / monthly, we would like to push the entire set of tests to production environment based on the stability. We should be able to move scripts back and forth bet dev and production systems. Is it good to manage 2 codebases and sync them based on the time interval OR can we have a single codebase and manage to update the test complete suite to check / uncheck list of tests based on the environment that it has to be run against ? Please provide your valuable inputs on the same. Regards, Chethan2.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Reduce .mht Report Size
Hi Armands, This solution works if we execute save report from a method. But in our case, we have to execute test cases using test execute command line and we have no option to make changes to report size. Please let us know if there is any other workaround for the same. Hi, I have couple of projects in test complete (9.3 version). Each project when executed using command line (This is controlled by CruiseControl .net) .mht reports are generated and each report size exceeds 100 MB. We have configured in such a way that the test runner captures image only when there is an error / exception. How can we reduce the size (or configure to show only checkpoints and errors / exceptions) of the report to lets say ~10 MB so that the report can be shown on the CCNet dashboard Please assist me in resolving this issue. Hi Tanya, We have tried increasing the timeout to 120000 (120 secs).... this doesnt help. Can you please us know a permanent fix for the same. This has stalled all our test executions. Hi, We are facing an issue in Test Complete identifying WPF objects. We are currently using TC version 9.1. On one of the machines (in a separate network) automation scripts work just fine. On the other network, where we have around 5 VMs with test complete, fails because the object appends WindowsForms10.Window.8.app. to the object full name. I have tested this on the sample application as well (orders.exe) - When used the object spy, on the form for the first time, the full name property value is set to "Sys["Process"]("Orders")["Window"]("WindowsForms10.Window.8.app.0.378734a", "Orders - Untitled", 1)" But when we spy it again and again (may be on the 2nd or 3rd time) it changes back to "Sys["Process"]("Orders")["WinFormsObject"]("MainForm")" Can you please help us in resolving this issue.
