Want to manipulate registry with a keyword test
I'm rewriting delphiscript tests to keyword tests because delphiscript has been deprecated and I prefer keyword tests. It's a huge undertaking and I don't want to switch to a different scripting language and have to create a new Project file because that will take several months and I would be trying to keep two projects in synch with my normal daily work. So, could someone send a print screen of what this would look like in a keyword test, please? function DeleteRegistryKey(); var Key; begin Key := Storages.Registry('Software', HKEY_CURRENT_USER); Key.DeleteSubSection('SomethingFoo'); end; Thanks!Solved484Views0likes1CommentTestComplete should convert my keystrokes to the coded form as I type them
1. Record a test on a field that contains several keystrokes other than alphanumeric keys, e.g. Ctrl and Shift combinations 2. Say the value of the operation is '[End]$$^a^c[Esc]' 3.Now I would like to add ![Home] to the end of it. 4.I would like to go to the end of value field and press the actual keystroke combinations SHIFT+HOME, and rely on TestComplete to supply the coded form. So, TestComplete would add ![Home] where I'm focused in the value field and I don't have to remember thatbang (explanation point) means Shift. 5.Not sure how you would hi-jack windows to do this.A modal window that can intercept the keystrokes from windows? Seems like the recording mode would already know how to do it. Advantage is that I would not have to re-record and get it wrong several times, and I would not have to memorize or lookup seldomlyused keystrokes for theTestComplete coded form.813Views0likes0CommentsRe: Testing installation MSI's on various configurations of Windows
Istarted the trial this morning. The online help person said I would need to build a mechanism to download everything viaa browser, and then start the install. Is there atool somewhere thatwould do this? I'm not too confident that this installwill raise permissions to allow DLL registrations. And, I don't have access to web programmers, so this is not looking good. Anyone know of some othercloud testing service of various Windows configurations on demand?3.4KViews0likes4CommentsTesting installation MSI's on various configurations of Windows
Does CrossBrowserTesting provide a way for me to test the installation of my MSI's on various configurations of Windows? It appears not. So,does anyone know of a service that would let me standup configurations on demand? I only need this everyfour weeks.Solved3.5KViews0likes8CommentsNeed utilitiy to format milliseconds to a time format like hh:mm:ss to save in the Log
In keyword testing (preferred), does TestComplete provide something that I can give a parameter of milliseconds like 7500 and it provides a pretty time, like7:30. I believe I've exhausted all available searching online, but I couldbe wrong. I actually hope I'm wrong about that. I need this in order to log "quick to read" Counter values in the log doing Performance testing.Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: Change double-click action on test item to "Jump to Test"
1. Double-click on a file in Windows Explorer and the file is open &ready for editing. This is what seems to be the natural and most common behavior in Windows Applications. 2. Right-clicking a filein Windows Explorer gives you many options, one of which is "Properties", which seems to correlate to "Select Test", something in TestComplete that isn't done very often on a test item line once thetest has been established and working. 3. In short, the Double-click action should be the most common thing we do - get you editing the test item in the straightest path possible. Now, if the most popular thing to do is to always be picking different tests, then that's different and this whole idea is just a puff of smoke. 4. Keep "Right-Click | Jump to Test" just like it is. That mimics Windows Explorer: Right-Mouse | Open. 5.Oh, I just noticed, Right-Click drop-down options ismissing "Select Test". For the new TestComplete user who trusts Right-Mouse to provide actions forwhat is needed in this context, adding this option to the drop-down would help them. Kinda seems odd that Right-Mouse | Open is afavored behavior but not Right-Mouse | Select Test is not even available. 6.A single-click on the Ellipsisbegs the user to click it, making it more intuitive than a Double-Click for pulling up the "Select Test" form. I like the Ellipsis! 7. A fewapplications in Windows allow you to configure what happens when youDouble-Click something. Often, it is also the same action as pressing the [Enter] key, but I'm not even going there.Oops, I just did. All that said, I know how it is to be using software perfectly fine for years and years and years, and then have to deal with the new guy (me in this case) trying to change things up. So, thanks for yourtime!3.4KViews0likes0CommentsChange double-click action on test item to "Jump to Test"
Context: Project | Organize Tests | Test Items Today, the double-click action takes you to the "Select Test" form. The idea of this postis for the double-click action to mean"Jump to Test" instead of "Select Test". Why?: Once a test has been assigned to the test item, it rarely changes. When it does need to change, all you do is click on the elipses of the test name and it brings up the "Select Test" form. So, make the double-click do something more common, "Jump to Test". A Variation of this idea is for us to be able to configure what action is taken upon double-click.3.4KViews1like2Comments
