Tested App Application path constantly changing

Question

Hi, how can I make the Tested Application path be flexible? In my case our application changes the folder name based on its version (ex. C:\ProgramData\Test\App.2.1.5\App.exe) So when I set that path in the Tested Apps when a different version is installed test complete cannot find it anymore. I tried using a wildcard like 'C:\ProgramData\Test\App.*\App.exe' but it didn't work.

You can write a small test to set a persistent variable that has your version number in it and a string that is the tested app name including that variable. Use the reference below to add the tested app on the fly.&nbsp; You can fix it so it increments from the last one and only run this script when you know the version has updated. Your main test can also use that variable for reference if you make it global.

I didn't find any reference to wildcards in the TestedApps documentation.&nbsp;

How would a person doing manual testing know which of the version folders to choose?

You can also use&nbsp;TestComplete Command Line&nbsp;and set project variable, to launch the application. Either way, you still have to specify the complete path.

When the new version is installed it deletes the old one so it is always in that path it just changes the version number.
