Rename - project Suite and project - Folders Rename

How to rename the same project suite ?

Here is the case -

We have already created the project Suites and projects and running for one organization A . Now we want to run the same project suites and projects for another Organization B. How we can rename the project suites and Projects to reflect for organization B.

I followed the documenation mentioned in the link

https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/working-with/managing-projects/renaming.html

Project Suite file,

TCCFGEXTENDER and TCLS files. But the folder name associated with the project suite file do not get changed.

Old name for TCCFGEXTENDER and TCLS files also exists.

For project

project file get renamed . But the folder name associated with the project  file do not get changed

TCLS file get rename

Old TCLS file also exists.

How we can get the folders name changed ?

Please update

You can simply copy the entire project over to a new folder after it's been renamed.  The folders themselves are not vital to the project so long as you preserve the same general folder structure.

Have you looked into the "cloning" function?

Why automate?  I do automated testing because there's only so much a human being can do and remain healthy.  Sleep is a requirement.  So, while people sleep, automation that I create does what I've described above in order to make sure that nothing gets past the final defense of the testing group.

@tristaanogre

Thanks for the updates

Here is  my folder structure

.../HSC/HSC <Project Suite name>

../TTU/TTU<Project Suite name>

I created the first one and worked on it.  Now we have to work on  for second one. As per your first suggestion this will mess up the HSC folder structure

How does the cloning work , cloning is not available for project suite .

Thanks

I looked at the cloning.

With The cloning I have to follow the below steps.

1. Clone the Project to the location  for e.g. .../TTU/ and I can give the name of the project TTU<project-name>

2. Create new Project suite in the location for e.g. ../TTU/<project suite folder get created.

3. Copy the project folder  in step 1 to the project suite folder in step 2

4.  on TestComplete IDE add the Project - Add  existing item.

Thanks

Seem like whatever the feature available in testComplete is not perfect to make this task easier.

I have to do it manually create a project suite and add new item as project and then copy the script from another location .

It is issue with visualizer files. TCVIS file . Is there any restriction with the TCVIS file like long names ?

Thanks

There is a bug in the testcomplete system

When the script file name is very long and the user want to copy the script file name from one location to another location then TestComplete simply notifies that it cannot find the specified path which seem to be confusing.

Thanks
