Multiple Issues with TestComplete 15.51.4.7

I upgraded our PCs to TC 15.51.4.7 and we encountered multiple severe issues.

 

Issue #1 - The WaitAliasChild function is not working. Smartbear has acknowledged this and they are "working on a solution". We use WaitAliasChild in a common function that gets called throughout our testing so this broke a lot for us.

 

Issue #2 - The ClickItem method is not working properly for HTML select statements. It does not click the correct item. It occurs with ClickItem(0) or ClickItem("option"). 

 

I submitted both items to support. Just posting to let others know exactly what I encountered since it seems like others were having issues with this release.

    I have worked around the ClickItem issue by doing the following:

    'Everywhere I previously had this:
objField.ClickItem(Value)

'I changed it to this:
objField.Click
objField.Keys(Value)
objField.Keys("[Enter]")

    This works in our application but may not work in yours. Its worth a try.

      Thanks for the tip. I was considering going in and using the keys function to bypass all the ClickItems.

      It is unfortunate that we might need to do that though. Not even two weeks ago ClickItem actually found an issue with dropdowns in our .Net app. They were not actually clickable, but you could use the KB to select your item. It is nice to have a mix of both functions for reasons like that.

      I think we may just downgrade to the last version until a new update is released. Just having trouble getting into our license account currently, so that is not really possible. When it rains it pours right? hah!

     Everyone - uninstall 15.51 and reinstall 15.50  - that was our answer

      WaitAliasChild is broken in 15.50 too. 15.49 seems to be working.
      I Stopped updating TC more than a year ago, because of another defect that we didn't report. I decided to try updating today, to check out if it was accidentally fixed, or maybe report it, and I found out that there is another blocker 🤣😂😅.
      The last stable version for me is "15.20.341.7" (16.12.2021)

        Yes – the updates can be horrid – hopefully something will work down the line for you

    .WaitAliasChild appeared to not work for 15.50 as well. Just to let others know if they decide to rollback to this version.

    Our teams are being stopped by two functions in two different enviroments [WhoAreYou_LR and AdditionalInformationforYourself_CoCo] that look for a certain County in a State (its a mandatory requirement for almost all of our tests).  The wrong State is being chosen. We are unable to complete End to End testing.

    Trit1 I don't know what your functions do, but are you calling any TestComplete Methods that is returning a wrong result?

    kakabubu if you think there's an issue/defect with TestComplete, you should report it. It helps to build a stable product.

      There is an issue with catching dialog messages. And it is reproduced in certain circumstances.
      Broken TC Update was released in the end of the year, before our release, so I had to downgrade it, after I found out that problem was with TC.
      24 February 2022 added additional difficulties for our project. So spending time on reporting issue had very small priority.

      To report this issue we should make a separate test project, AND test application, so I’d need to ask our developers to help me.
      It seems very complicated for me, so I just decided not to update TC, because sooner or later anyway I will get another trollan horse in new version.
      Unfortunately it’s hard to remove TC from our project completely.

    Also having the same issues with ClickItem not working on Web or on a .Net App. 

     

    In web, it seems like it tries to click on the item in the list, but then just spams the down arrow until it hits the bottom of the list, that of course breaks the rest of the test when the proper item is not being selected.

     

    In .Net it just hard fails with this error:

     

     

    Possible reasons:
    1. The application stopped responding.
    2. The application was compiled incorrectly (see the Open Applications topic in the help system).
    3. An error occurred in TestComplete/TestExecute.

    Technical information:
    515 0x80020003 (Member not found.) .

    Have you heard anything more about the ClickItem issue? I had reported a ticket on Monday for it and have never heard from anyone. Hopefully the Chrome issue will also address this.

    We are having issues with 15.51 as well, although our issues seem to be more severe and not limited to ClickItem. None of our existing tests ran correctly. The login test failed on ClickButton. Other tests seemed to be failing object recognition. We had to roll back to 15.50. When we rolled back to 15.50 everything was back to normal, and our tests ran fine.

      I wouldn't want to go for the workaround path as something very fundamental is broken and there are hundreds of lines to change for me in order for it to work.
       
      If anyone in SmartBear can please update ASAP the status of this as nothing is working since the last update.
