Checkpoint to Excel Variable

HI all!

I am trying to find out is it possible for me to create a checkpoint that will check the highlighted text value on the webpage to a field in excel.

In other words, there is a form on the site where a customer enters information which then gets passed to an API we are using. My testcase pulls values the customer enters to the fields (first name, last name) , fills in the form and then I wanted the testcase to compare passed values to excel input.

I am using keyword test and i tried all different types of checkpoints and could not find such option.

It's going to be a property checkpoint where you're going to check the value of the field (property name TBD).  You'll need to write some sort of code, then, to retrieve the values from the spreadsheet and pass that in to the "Value" field in the property checkpoint.

You might be able to do it using a Data Driven Loop depending upon how your code is structured.  Or, you might need to connect with Excel via COM.  For the data driven looping process, see https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/testing-with/data-driven/excel-storages.html and associated links.  For using COM, see https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/testing-with/advanced/working-with-external-data-sou...

Why automate?  I do automated testing because there's only so much a human being can do and remain healthy.  Sleep is a requirement.  So, while people sleep, automation that I create does what I've described above in order to make sure that nothing gets past the final defense of the testing group.

It's not always obvious going through the wizard, but one you have a checkpoint set up, you can go back in to edit it and there will be one of those little ... buttons and that will let you change the comparison to Code Snippet.   You can add what @tristaanogre is talking about in there.
