Support for Windows 8 Metro style apps

Will TestComplete be available for Windows 8 Metro style apps?

    Hello,

     

    I need to know whether TestComplete supports Windows 8 Metro style apps? There is an urgent requirement for the new project

    Hi Vijay,



    SmartBear is a Microsoft partner, and we have supported all versions of their OS since Win 98. Now we are working on support Windows 8 in general and Metro application specifically. So the future releases of TestComplete will have support of Windows 8 and Metro applications.

    Hello,



    is it possible that we can get a preview for testing? We have apps that we can start testing with!


    If there is anything special for W8 Metro we need to know that soon.

     

    Please let me know when the release for TestComplete would be and what additional support is given needed for running Windows 8 Metro apps

    Hi Vijay,



    You can try using TestComplete 9. However, please note that TestComplete 9 and TestExecute 9 (as well as earlier TC/TE versions) do not officially support Windows 8 and, therefore, we cannot guarantee that the products will work without problems on this OS.



    Please note that you need to enable the Microsoft UI Automation technology to make TestComplete be able to access individual elements of the system Metro UI used in Windows. To do this, you need to add the 'DirectUIHWND' window class to the list of accepted windows of the UI Automation Suport feature. For more information, please see the Project Properties - UI Automation Options article.
