Accidental Test Execution - Zephyr Essential Cloud

We have a question regarding Test Executions in Zephyr Essential Cloud.

We accidentally created a new test execution of a test case that have a lot of steps and a lot of test results reported for them.

  • Can the new Test Execution be deleted?
  • Can previous execution results be restored or reused?
  • What is the recommended way to re-run a test while preserving the history and results from previous executions?
  • Is the Iteration feature intended for this use case?

I understand that argument about historical executions that really has been executed. But in case I by mistake klick on "New execution" and don't have the intention to run it, e.g. by the "play triangle" in a Jira User Story - traceability link. Then a brand new execution is created and my actual execution is hidden from being the latest in the Test Cycle.

That is not a problem if it is a short test case with very few steps just clicking Pass/Fail. But if having a long test case with a lot of evidence (screenshots etc) in every step. Then it would be appropriate to be able to remove the test execution in status Not executed so that one doesn't hide the actual result.

  • you don’t want to lose the existing test history. Ideally, each re-run should have its own execution while preserving previous results.
