Unable to install upgrade of TestComplete as previous installation not finished.

Can anyone help as I am in a loop of hell. I have tried to upgrade TestComplete to 15.79.5 but every time is says 'The Previous product installation was not finished correctly. The current operation will be interrupted. Please reboot your machine and finish the installation first.' 

a. I'm not sure how to do this as I never received any errors on the last upgrade I did and my laptop have been restarted several times since them.

b. I can't uninstall and reinstall TestComplete as I get the same message.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this issue?

    I had the same annoying issue too! As an example, from the command prompt, locate your installation file and type in either

    C:\>TestComplete1579SLM.exe --clean

    or

    C:\>TestComplete1579SLM.exe -clean

    I can't remember if it's one or two dashes before clean
