Hello,
not sure if this can help but I found the issue might be related with Mark of The Web (MoTW).
mht/mhtml files opens without any issue if you Unblock the file:
You can also leave the file Blocked and set the Edge flag "#edge-internet-explorer-integration-block-with-motw" to Disabled:
I'm looking for a quick solution to apply the cfg on all Windows devices.
Maybe adding the URL to "Safe zone".
Thanks,
Andrea- dhundleyRegular Contributor
i brought up the properties on one of my mht files and the checkbox is not checked. thanks anyway for the suggestion. looks like i'm just stuck with IE for the time being.

Hello,
just an update.
I forgot to mention that the .mhtml file is being downloaded from our Intranet (mydomain.lan).
So I solved this by simply adding "mydomain.lan" as Intranet Zone (1) to "Site to Zone Assignment List" under "Computer Configuration", "Policies", "Administrative Templates", "Windows Components", "Internet Explorer", "Internet Control Panel", "Security Page":
After a GPO refresh the downloaded file no longer shows "Unblock" and the .mhtml file opens within MS Edge.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Andrea,
thanks for getting back to me on this. i followed your instructions to the letter but "unblock" still appears on the properties page of my mht files. now, when i click the unblock checkbox and then open the file in edge, it works but that would have to be done on every individual file which is sort of a pain in the butt. I tried to figure out what you meant about setting the Edge flag to disabled but I don't seem to have the Experiments option in my Edge settings (at least i can't find that option anywhere). Any suggestions as to where i might locate it?

I'm using Windows 10 as well, and I don't have Internet Explorer as it's been removed by IT. I just use Edge and Chrome.

I've just uninstalled IE from windows server 2019 and it's the same thing...
It's a mistack !

From this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/DeployEdge/edge-ie-mode, it seems like Internet Explorer is required for Edge to run in IE-Mode.
Though I can't access IE in anyway, I can see the folder Internet Explorer in Program Files and Program Files (x86) on my machine. I guess it's not fully uninstalled by IT!

yes indeed, the directory Internet explorer always exists
I've just tried in windows 11 and it's ok
Are you sure you are using win10 ? your capture seems come from win 11...no ?

I've been using my company laptop since 2018, as we had upgraded from Windows 7 desktop PC. I'm 100% certain it's Windows 10!
