TestExcute 9.20 performance dropdown

Hello,



I recently updated from TE 9.1 to 9.2 on two computers, and applied Firefox and Chrome latest needed patches.



In both machines (Windows 7) the performance has decreased a lot (a script that usually lasts 10 seconds in 9.1 now lasts up to 3 minutes in 9.2), but CPU or RAM usage is as usual, and the scripts in Test Complete 9.2 seem not to be affected.



Has anyone faced that problem? I downgraded TestExecute to 9.1 and the problem is solved that way, but I'd like to use 9.2 for browsers support.

    Hi there,



    I have installed Test Complete 9.2 and the same happens, the performance of the execution is really slow.



    So, there are the facts:


    • 2 different physical machines


    • Bot with Windows 7 64 bits.


    • Performance is ok with TE 9.1 but is really slow with TE/TC 9.2 (the lasttest version)


    If anyone could help me I will be much appreciated

    Hi Javier,


     


    Are you using Name Mapping in your test? We are familiar with a similar issue in TestComplete/TestExecute 9.20 connected to it. Could you please contact our Support team to try the patch?

    Hi Tanya,



    No, I'm not using name mapping, only scripting.



    Should I ask support for the patch even so?

    I updated to 9.20.1460.7 on Tuesday 3/19.    A script that took 1 minute and 49 seconds to run is now taking over 44 minutes!    I do not use name mapping, but use find functions to find my gui objects.  It seems as if my find function



    function all_trxn_panel_popup() { return myDashboard().FindChild ( new Array("ObjectType","idStr"), new Array("Panel", "recent_transactions") , FIND_DEPTH) }



    is now taking  3 and a half minutes to find the object.  Since I'm using this as the starting point for all objects beneath it, it is exponentially increasing my test execution time.

    Hi Guys,


     


    As far as I understand, you are testing web pages, right? I'm not familiar with known issues in TestComplete 9.20 related to slow execution of web tests. Could you please follow the steps below to help us investigate the issue?


    1. Run the Report Generator tool located here:


    <TestComplete>\Bin\ReportGenerator.exe


    2. Select the "Launch/attach to TestComplete" option.


    3. Run another instance of the Report Generator tool.


    4. Select the "Track application launch" option, specify your application executable name and click Next. The Report Generator tool will wait until the application is launched and then will track all events in it.


    5. Reproduce the problem.


    6. Click the "Generate..." button in all instances of the Report Generator tool and save reports to a local folder.


    7. Send the reports to our Support team.

    I specified application under test to be "Windows Internet Explorer" then started IE.

    After launching IE I did not see any change to the wndow.  After I ran, the test I did not have any options for generating a dmp from that instance of the report generator tool.



    It appears that I did generate a dump from the first instance of the report generator tool, but did not notice any option for specifying where it goes.  When I tried to close the first instance it said "are you sure you want to close, you have not generated a report" but there were no options for generating a report!

    Hello,



    I just found what was the problem. When I removed the CPU Performace Counter I had active (I just had that), the problem was solved.



    Can anyone confirm that?
