TestComplete Upgrade to TC 9

Dear TestComplete Support Team,

I am using TC 8.70 Enterprise for our automated tests and would like to upgrade it to TC 9 Enterprise. But If i deinstall the current TC 8.70 and install TC 9, i am afraid that i would lose my node-locked license again like this case: http://smartbear.com/forums/f81/t76524/TestComplete-node-locked-license-Issue  

Could you pls. guide me for upgrading TestComplete, before i lose the license key again :)

    Uninstalling TestComplete 8 won't affect the TestComplete 9 license activated on the computer.


    Also, please note that using both TestComplete versions is allowed only during the upgrade procedure.

    hi Tanya, thanks for your quick reply. As far as i understand, if i activate a node-locked license key for v.8. then i can only use it for v.8. i have to get a new license key if i want to upgrade it to v.9 on same workstation. is that correct?

    Actually, the TestComplete 9 license should be still activated on the computer (as far as I understand, you haven't deactivated it). You can check that by opening the http://localhost:1947/_int_/products.html page in your browser.


     


    i have to get a new license key if i want to upgrade it to v.9 on same workstation.


     


    All license keys your company owns are specified in your SmartBear Account.

    Exactly, i think we get the point now :) i see the active license key in HASP Keys table on our workstation, wenn i open TestComplete v.9, i get popup window:

    "1 Activate new Node-locked license 

    2 Try to Find a License Again

    3 Close Application"

    1. node-locked license is already activated on the workstation and cannot be activated twice.

    2. Finding a license is only for floating license.activated key on workstation is our node-locked license.

    I need your comfirmation that deactivation of the active license key is the only way.
