TestComplete stuck/freeze

While doing test execution I am facing the issue that TestComplete is getting stuck/freeze when I press play button for any tests. This issue I am facing in latest version i.e. 15.81 and it will be happening if we are using TestComplete continuously for 2,3 hours.

Has anyone also facing same issue.

I've installed the latest version of TestComplete, v15.81.7.7 and there does seem to be a number of issues -

    • Taking long time to launch
    • Saving seems to hang
    • Many instances of TestComplete Chrome Host (32 bit) appearing

All of which I'm not able to reproduce constantly. This build is not stable!

An execution plan in this version ALSO does NOT stop, and retry immediately when an error occurs, rather, it keeps timing out in the same keyword test if a page or results are being tested but failed to load....that makes many timeouts occur that should NOT be happening of course. A log message should immediately appear and then retry as many times as is set in the Current Project > Tools > Current  Project Properties - Rerun failed tests items, times: number box.

Since 15.79 TestComplete is a way more unstable. Freeze, crash, object recognition freeze, inability to close a project properly, inability to close TC itself and many other symptoms.

But I didn't raise a support ticket either. It will be a waste of time. TC will answer that everything works fine, I'll say no, then "can you provide us further information to reproduce ?" > No (for various reasons). End of the story...

    So I deal with it.

Agreed v15.79 seemed until the last few days to be best.... I think something even in this version is now BAD. I believe it may be Chrome updating again. Our customers may use the latest version so to me, TC must stay current on its browsers - Edge, Chrome, Firefox, burn Explorer - too old. How else am I verifying my stuff works in the latest of these browsers (minus the burnt Explorer one) if TestComplete is flaky in the latest versions? That is not making a bit of sense.

        Hi,

        burn Explorer - too old

IE is still part of Windows OS, it is used, for example, to process .mht files and is used in certain scenarios (e.g. I see IE window when my instance of Visual Studio tries to authenticate to refresh the license), so personally I prefer that IE support is kept...

I created a support ticket - maybe that helps to fix it soon - hopefully

No i did not raised a support ticket now, i am still analysing, but i will do it, althought they will say "your browser version is not supported".
But i think the more people raise a ticket the better. So i will also raise a ticket.

I am using latest version of Edge do you also using latest version of browser, bcz as per TestComplete documentation latest version are not supported that is the biggest drawback of it.

We also have the same problem running TestComplete Version: 15.81.7.7 x64

manually and also TestExecute (we us it in the pipeline).
Even when i watch it, it sometimes freezes and it is also not possible to stop it, you have to kill the task.
And  the next problem ist that the "part" where it stops looks randomly. Sometimes after execution of x the other time of exection of y, so i could not find out why and when it "crashes".

My ticket is no open for more than a month and they still say that they are working on a fix. I just want to know if anybody already got a fix or a solution.

Did you raise support ticket for it? If this is getting to more members, then I will raise it. So needs more confirmation from other community members.

Yes I am facing the same version on the latest 15.81 version. We run TestExecute and it seems to freeze as well. Eventually a 'Failed to start' error is thrown in my pipeline, but the cause is the getting stuck / freezing of TestExecute on the 15.81 version. Before that I have never seen this issue.

I have not come across this issue before, even with the latest version of TestComplete. You have not mentioned whether this is relating to Desktop or Web application.

I suggest you create a new project, to see if the issue still persists.

I'm using TestComplete v15.80.1.7 and I noticed this morning, there were a number of issues relating to PKCE authentication, and it's also taking longer for TestComplete to launch.

Looking at the history of TestComplete v15.81, they seem to have fixed an issue relating to TC-108983 Resolved an issue that caused automatic reauthentication in PKCE scenarios after closing the login window.

I'm wondering whether they have broken something!
