TestComplete - Network Suite RDP session color depth setting

ISSUE

I'm running a Network Suite job from a Window 7 Pro,  which instructs another physical Test Execute workstation running on a Win 7 Pro,  to load a client application that opens an image.  This application requires a minimum 24-bit color depth to open successfully.  The application itself loads.  The issue occurs when attempting to open the image and states, "Insufficient screen color depth, 24-bit or greater required".

Attempting to kick off the same project FROM the local Test Execute workstation opens the image w/o issue, which leads me to speculate that TestComplete is RDP into the slave workstation with a session less than 24-bit color depth.

QUESTION

Is this a known issue, or is there a configuration on TC to set the RDP color depth?  I have verified that both host and client workstations display settings are set to 32-bit.

  • Hi Dennis,

Currently, there is no way to configure the parameters of the Remote Desktop Connection tool in Network Suite. We have a corresponding suggestion in our DB - I've increased its rating.

As for now, I can suggest a workaround to you:

    1. Set the "Login mode" property equal to the Manual option in the Hosts editor.

    2. Run the Remote Desktop Connection utility and set the parameters you need in it.

Is TestComplete able to use saved setting files (".RDP") that have all the credentials and window settings saved?

If it is then the solution would be to run Remote desktop with the rdp file.

    Hope this helps.
