Test Data Generator

Is the Test Data Generator a scriptable object at all; or, failing that, is there any way to persist a definition of data to generate?

I was about half-way through a very large test data definition when I realized that I couldn't seem to persist what I was entering and that, if I needed to correct anything after generating the data, I'd have to re-enter all the info (43 field definitions). Sure enough, afterwards I needed to make a small change.

It would be a wonderful thing if I could create a generated data definition in code and re-use it on demand.

  • Hi Robert,

There is no way to access Data Generator from script. Do you see any other applications of this functionality, except for the task you mentioned? I am asking this, because I can register this request, but we need to understand exactly what the functionality is needed for.

As for now, it is possible to solve such a problem by exporting the generated data to an Excel file. You will be able to edit columns by means of Excel. I have registered your request to have the ability to re-generate column data by using the Data Generator Wizard.
