Shadow DOM help

Does anyone have a good primer on how to make TestComplete find shadow dom elements? I am finding them but TestComplete has a hard time clicking them after the first click. Why are they unreliable? We have to use the xpath way of finding them. CSS seems unreliable. Just shows button. Why?

      Sorry, no. The system refuses to recognize my xpath too but chrome dev tools has no problem hitting the toggle. And ocr won’t help either. Makes no sense to me. Any other suggestion for me to get to the toggle more reliably when TC just wants to identify object as css type = button which is not good enough
