Script Extension Dialog Box

Well, first of all, you need to rename the xml from Description3.xml to Description.xml



Second of all, even if we get this thing to be recognized, I'm not sure it will work.  According to the help documenation, the TestedApps object is not available in script extensions so your call in openApp.js to the TestedApps object will not work.



Finally, there's a misspelling in your xml.  The last "Description" tag had a misspelling in the close tag.

             <Description>This extension opens App</Decription>

Correct that and it should be recognized.  However, I think you'll find that you'll need to do some more work with your js file itself.

Actually, the Windows Compressed/Zip folder does have an extension of .zip.  It may be that your windows settings are hiding that extension.  In your OS, select your Folder Options (it's different where that is located between different version of Windows).  Select the "view" tab and, in that list of configuration options, there's a box that says "Hide extensions for known file types".  Deselect that and click OK.  You should then be able to see the .zip extension.

I'm assuming that, by creating a tcx file, you mean that you created a zip archive, added your JS and description.xml file to it, and renamed the archive to have a tcx extension instead of a zip extension?



There's a "reload" button on the window that, if you dropped in your extension file while TC was up and running, you need to click on "Reload" to reload the extensions into memory.

I'm new to Test Complete.... my goal is to have a bunch of common functions in a file or in files by themselves, and create script extensions so we can call these functions from any project instead of having to recode everything.

An excellent plan, actually. :-)

Is there any way to create .tcx file without winzip/winrar. I have windows Compressed (zipped) Folder and it's not possible to rename the zip file in to .tcx extension.



Could you please suggest some other work around ? btw, we don't have winzip utilty at office.
