OK... I'm confused... you said that the crx file you couldn't find it...but now you say it's in the Common Files folder but not in the specific bin folder? Guess I'm getting a bit lost in the conversation.
Sorry for the confusion. The crx file has always been in the Common Files folder, but not in the bin. For whatever reason, the installer is not updating Chrome with the extension. When I try to manually drag the crx file into the Chrome Extensions page, I get the following error: 'Could not install package: 'COULD_NOT_GET_TEMP_DIRECTORY' error. I shouldn't have to do this manually (I installed Chrome first, then TestExecute). I'm not sure if it is the TestExecute installer not able to map to the correct folders?

It could also be your level of security privilege on the VM in question. If I understand it correctly, for Chrome to be able to do the extension install, it needs to be able to have access to certain temp folders.
Have you tried running the TestExecute install using "Run as Administrator" on the VM and trying the "Modify" or "Repair" option that way? It's all together possible this is all a user privilege elevation problem.

I tried installing both Chrome and TestExecute with 'Run As Administrator', but still didn't work. After I re-installed TestExecute, I don't see the crx file anymore.

Yup, I'm at a loss. Let us know what you find out with the support ticket you opened. I'm not sure why you're running into this situation.

Hi
Me too came across the same issue and I did the following steps to install the extension
Copy the tcCrExtension.crx file from this location <Program Files>\SmartBear\Test Execute 12\Bin\Extensions\tcCrExtension
or this location <Program Files(x86)>\SmartBear\Test Execute 12\Bin\Extensions\tcCrExtension.
paste in desktop or downloads.
Then do follow this link to install it in chrome. It works well for me.
