I have a similar problem (i.e. trying to parse a string made of HTML code), but I'm using the Desktop module of Test Complete. The two articles seem to refer to objects available only in the Web module. Can you confirm? If so, is there a way to parse HTML code using objects from the Desktop module?
Note: I'm automating tests on a Java application. The HTML data I'm trying to parse is simply displayed in a pane, not a browser.

HTML is basically a form of XML. You could create an instance of MSXML2.DOMDocument, feed your HTML string into that and parse it using the native node methods built into that object.

That was a very interesting alternative. Unfortunately, in this particular case, the HTML code is far from well-formed. It will probably be easier to clean the string myself and find a custom way to retrieve the needed information.

Perhaps a blend of the two... bit of clean up using string object methods and such to peel out the salient data and then an XML parser.
Another possibility is that the outerHTML should be available on the object, even if you don't have the Web module for TestComplete. You COULD do an object property checkpoint if the data is static enough... but if experience wins out, the data is NEVER static enough for that on an enterprise scale.
