Problem with plaing Web service test

What .NET Framework versions are installed on your computer? Web service testing requires .NET Framework 3.5 or 4.



If you have .NET 4 Client Profile, please install full .NET 4 Framework.

Have a look at the WebService.LastResponse property.

Something like

WebServices.voyager_rc_webservice.LastResponse

and/or

WebServices.voyager_rc_webservice.LastResponse.xml

What operating system and IIS version are installed on the server that hosts web service?

If it is IIS7 and up, than by default, IIS7 returns custom http error page which is definitely not the expected SOAP result.

In order to test negative scenarios (those returning exceptions) with web services, you must disable suppression of the original error messages on the IIS.



Also, it is possible that your web service do not support SOAP1.2 but only SOAP1.1 which requires installation of .Net 1.1 for IIS.

The only idea that I have at the moment (considering the fact that you are getting properly formatted SOAP response) is to try to disable the 'Stop on Error' option for the project and/or wrap the call to the GetAirportList() method with try/catch/finally and process the response in the catch/finally section(s).



BTW, in one of my projects (for the negative tests) I ended-up with the code like that (DelphiScript, but you should get an idea that illustrates my above suggestion):

SOAP faults are treated as script exceptions and should be handled using try...catch, as Alexei suggested.



However, I see from your screenshot that the script exception text doesn't actually contain the SOAP fault text, which doesn't seem normal. Could you please let me know what TestComplete version you are using (Help > About)?
