Poor performance on TC
I'm wondering if the odd behavior I've been seeing in Test Complete is directly related to the current poor performance of the application.
It could be that cumulative resource leaks cause TC to run slowly and poorly generating many errors. Currently I lack the ability to restart the machine TC is on or I'd try doing that right now (if things worked much better after a restart I'd suspect some kind of resource leak).
Or it could be that we are running TC in a non-optimal way. We are doing everything with TC via Remote Desktop but I don't see anything here indicating that running via Remote Desktop causes poor performance and errors in recordings.
I've previously posted about this in "Problems recording tests" and don't mean to duplicate posts, but that thread was not going anywhere, and I'm starting to think maybe the odd issues I'm seeing are related to the performance problems.
I notice several things are going on with these problems:
1) during recording of tests, actions take place at an amazingly slow speed or sometimes not at all. For instance, I'll click on a text box and start entering text. It can be a few minutes from when I enter the text until it all appears in the box (and I'm only entering about 20 characters) and it does so slowly, one character at a time. Frequently, in cases like this the first few times I enter the information it never appears (it seems like I have to click on the text box then quickly type or somehow the text box looses focus)
2) recorded tests are full of bogus steps. Operations labeled "HoverMouse" or "Drag" seem to almost always be bogus (I never need to hover or drag anything during the recording and am not consciously doing that)
Are there any tips for getting TestComplete to run better? It only seems to become non performant during the recording phase. I will look into getting permission to reboot the machine (I'm not sure when it was last rebooted).
We are running TC 10.10.752.7 on Windows 7 Enterprise, running on a box with two Xenon cores and 8GB of ram
