SmartBear supplies patches for each version of Chrome: http://support.smartbear.com/downloads/testcomplete/chrome-patches/
When Chrome gets to version 45 I would assume SmartBear will roll out their NPAPI replacement. But that would be a question for SmartBear support.
If I read your message correctly you say that keyword tests worked in IE but now your tests are not working. Perhaps you can post for some help with that issue?

FYI
I created a support ticket asking if TestComplete and TestExecute will work with Chrome after version 45 and the reply was 'We are aware of this issue and taking measures. Chrome support will retain.'

Does anybody know when this is going to be fixed for current version of Chrome 45.0.2454.85 m? I'm aware that probably all TestComplete users suffers from it but I just wanted to add that I also cannot run my tests without this plugin for Chrome.

Looks like a new version is available that will support Chrome 45: http://community.smartbear.com/t5/Functional-Web-Testing/Google-has-now-removed-npapi-support-from-Chrome-what-is/m-p/104863?&_ga=1.157969978.166990057.1441195869#M25569
"We’ve just released TestComplete 11.1 that supports new Chrome 45 (without NPAPI). So, you need to update your TestComplete version – click Help | Check for Updates from the TestComplete main menu."

Updating TestComplete to version 11.10 fixed the issue for me. Thanks!
