Name Mapping Web Page Identification with Wildcards.

I usually edit the identification parameters of web pages in name mapping so that my tests will run in different test environments.

So, for example, a page might be automatically recorded in name mapping by TC with the URL "testenvironment01/something/somethingelse.asp".

I change the identification in name mapping to..."testenvironment*/something/somethingelse.asp" so that my test will run in testenvironment01 and testenvironment02 etc.

This all works fine. But, when I am recording keyword tests, and a new object on the page is automatically included in namemapping it will often not be put under the "testenvironment*/something/somethingelse.asp" page. Instead another "testenvironment01/something/somethingelse.asp" entry will be created.

So I end up with mutiple mappings of the same page. Some of my web pages now have six name mapping trees.

This doesn't stop tests running, but it can make things harder to find in the name mapping!

Is there any way that I can prevent this behaviour by TC?

Or can I merge my multiple name mapping page definitions?

Thanks,  Jim
