Licens server issue

Hi

I find that the requirement for a physical license server is quite outdated.

I have not found any information why this is required or if there are a workaround this.

In many large organization use of virtualized servers and Clouds are quickly uprising  to save cost and enable a more flexible solutions.

In my organization the server requirement are rising a huge pressure on our use of TC from our Operation organization.

So I would like to know are there any plans for enable a license server to be virtual.

  • Hi Guys,

Actually, TestComplete licenses can be activated in a virtual environment. A special license key must be generated in this case. Also, there are many limitations for the activation on VMs. Peer, I suggest that you contact your Sales rep or the Support team to talk about this.

    Hi Peer,

Since TestComplete v10 or so, the license server can be installed on the servers that host virtual machines. License server is small and quite reliable (at least, I did not hear about problems caused by it), so this may simplify the task of finding the physical box for it.

As for its setup on the virtual box, as it bounds the license to the physical hardware, I am not sure that it will be possible in the nearest future to install license server on the virtual machines.
