Hi David,
Can I use the ADO connection and excute the query from a file? If so, how would that work?

You can read a text file as described in the "Reading Text Files" (
http://www.automatedqa.com/support/viewarticle.aspx?aid=6926 ) help topic and execute the query as shown in the "ADO.CreateADOQuery. Example" (
http://www.automatedqa.com/support/viewarticle.aspx?aid=8596 ) help topic. If you face problems with the query execution, you can try moving the query to a stored procedure and calling the stored procedure from TestComplete. To learn how to do this, see the following How To entry:
http://www.automatedqa.com/support/viewarticle.aspx?aid=9014
The other option is to use SQLPLUS from TC as I was reading the article about Oracle operations although it doesn't tell me much about how SQLPLUS and TC interact to execute these operations. It seems I need Automated Build Studio???

Automated Build Studio uses command line to interact with SQL*Plus, so you can simply execute the same command from a TestComplete script. To learn how to do this, see the following How To entry:

How do I run an executable file, like a .bat file, from TC?

You can use the approach provided above. Also, the question has been answered in the following SQAforums thread you started:
