Catastrophic Failure (An Error occurred while detaching from TestComplete)

In my logs after running the very most basic script I could write, I get the [subject] error.  Is I wish to use TC after this error, it will crash.  I can restart and it will do the same thing for this script.

function Main()

{

try

{

addRootNode()

}

catch(exception)

{

Log.Error("Exception", exception.description);

}

}

function addRootNode()

{

}

Not every script will fail.  uninstalling this and reinstalling will not solve this issue.  Upgraded from 7.10 to 7.52 and did not see the issue disappear.

If someone has seen this error or can reproduce this on their PC, a quick shout out to this thread would go mile towards convincing me I am not crazy.  I cannot get it to reproduce on any other PC.

  • Hi Jacob,

    Our customers faced similar issues with TestComplete 7.0. Then, the problem was in the OS.

    To help us investigate the situation, please clear the TestComplete Logs folder ("C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\AutomatedQA\TestComplete\7.0\Logs" for Windows Vista or later, "C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Application Data\AutomatedQA\TestComplete\7.0\Logs\" for windows XP), reproduce the crash, zip the Logs folder and send us the archive.

    Thanks in advance.
  • I am having the same problem, although all my tests fail with error while attaching to TestComplete and error while detaching from TestComplete. Now and then TestComplete crashes but there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when this happens. I am more concerned with all my otherwise successful tests failing due to these attach/detach errors. How can I stop this from happening? I am using version 7.52

  • Hi Michael,

    Please describe the situation you are facing as minutely as possible. What is your testing scenario?

    Please send us a request via the Contact Support web form and provide us with the additional information we asked Jacob for in the previous post.

    Thanks in advance.
