Cannot connect to Machine Debug Manager

I receive the 'Cannot connect to Machine Debug Manager' message when attempting to run scripts.  I checked the required 'Launch and Application' settings, and they were what was expected (all users configured had everthing enabled).

What is causing the problem?

Using TC 8.0 under Windows 7.  Previously had TC 7 under Windows XP running with no problems.

Additional:

Attempted the MSD install and thought it went okay.  However, tried again and received "INF Install failure. Reason: Access is denied."  Currently a full administrator (or so I think) to the computer.

  • Try this one:

    1. Uninstall TC

    2. Uninstal debugger

    3. Install debugger under user Administrator

    4. Install TC under user Administrator

    5. run TC under user Administrator

    6. run script

    Hi there,

I get the same error today and I couldn't get it resovled--"Microsoft Script Debugger failed to initialize. Please reinstall the debugger components and try again."

    My env: xp 32 bit

    TC Ver: TC7.5.2

What I've done: I have uninstalled both TC and MS Debugger and re-installed then again, I have tried many times, but just couldn't get it coverd back. In my the other vm, works fine.

PS: I don't have VS installed, and I can confirm I am administrator of this pc.

What's the matter? Can anyone give a help? Much appreciate.

    Thanks,

    Shirly
  • Hi Shirly,

Did you try following other recommendations given in this FAQ article? What are your results? Is the pdm.dll library located in the appropriate folder and registered correctly in the system? Is the target library loaded into the TestComplete process? Is the Machine Debug Manager (mdm.exe) component registered correctly in the system?
