Ah! OK, the port of 8080 was a bad choice, looks like you've got something on there already! Have a go with 9001 or something else until that 'address already in use' error goes away.

OK, first things first, maybe we should work on the terminology side. If you have a REST service:
(GET) http://localhost:8080/hello
Then:
host->localhost
port->8080
path->/
The create the action -> hello
Set the method->GET and Resource Path->/hello, dispatch type->sequence (not script)
Create a response, called 'default', Content-Type: text/xml, response body as <xml>hell</hello>
Then just start the mock, make a request to http://localhost:8080/hello, and you should see <xml>hello</xml>!

Not quite working for me. It looks like my company laptop Windows hosts file is all commented out so I don't think localhost is defined. For MockService options I just put the actual computer name of my laptop rather than localhost. When I 'run' the mock service the activity bar just ping-pongs left to right, back and forth. If I fire up a browser and navigate directly I get a message there are 0 MockServices running. Here's a 'photo". Sorry but the size of the jpeg gets limited. I can't seem to get it to scale to full size...

It sounds like the mock isn't starting properly - maybe because its having trouble binding to the ip / port? Have you tried 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost or the computer name? Normally if the port is already in use you get a different error message.
On the positive side, it looks like the rest of the mock could be ok from the screenshot.

Well I went home to my Windows 7 system (Home Premium) and installed SOAPUI. I repeated the steps above... If I use a browser with http://localhost:8080/hello OR http://computername:8080/hello OR http://127.0.0.1/hello I get the same pop up screen asking for a username and password and a message about XDB. (I recently installed an Oracle freeware test database system to learn SQL.. if that has anything to do with the error message. here's a 'photo'.
If I try to use SOAPUI to run the mock service from the service screen (the green triangle)... I get a java bind error. Here's a 'photo'
I'm really not getting this "path" thingee. Looks like a directory path. I'm still lost in this sea, but am very, very grateful for those reaching out to help. I appreciate it very much. BTW, the video didn't really provide any new insights beyond the instructions here, but I watched it. I'll try anything else you can fire my way.
