Why does the startup take so long?

What is loadUI always downloading from the Internet each time it starts?
Can't one teach it to collect and save all its parts locally so that one can also start it "offline"?

With "offline" I mean: for some of our tests we need odd proxy configurations that take a while to set up.
If I then try to start loadUI AFTER have configured the proxies, then loadUI won't start, because apparently it can't connect to whatever servers it is looking for. If I could pre-load everything this would spare me quite some hassle!

I always thought, that JNLP caches all stuff and - if it can't connect to the server - simply starts the last version available locally.

Is that not so?

Even when I am connected (proven by me writing this post here) the startup of loadUI (from the appearance of the splash screen until the UI finally opens) reproducibly takes 2'30"! Yes, more than 2 minutes! This is insane! What is loadUI doing during this time? Can't one speed this up?
I already went throug misc. posts and de- and re-installed this beast, but same result. What/whom is this trying to connect to?

  • For the upcoming version of loadUI, we're migrating to JavaFX 2, which is faster and also means that we don't need WebStart (which is the cause of several startup problems as well). The current build starts up in 7 seconds.
