Message Content Assertion on unsorted data

Question

I have an XML response test with a Message Content Assertion that has failed on me recently. On inspection, it turns out that the response contains the same data as before, it's just the order of the nodes that has changed. And apparently a Message Content Assertion needs to have the nodes in the exact same order as on the last Reconfigure.

Apart from asking my developers to sort the XML output, is there anything I can do to make a bunch of order-agnostic XPath-like assertions on content? I'm using SoapUI Pro 4.5.2.

Message Content assertion does expect a certain order of elements to be consistent. Same with XPath. So if you are looking for 'Sort' functionality, it is available with XQuery assertion (http://www.soapui.org/Functional-Testin ... -assertion) or you could potentially use a Groovy script, though it'd likely be more work.
