Hexadecimal characters in SOAP Response

I am using soapUI 3.5.1 on Windows 7. Whenever I fire off a SOAP Request I get hexadecimal characters in the SOAP Response. I have a browser that is using AJAX to post the same SOAP Request and it gets back ascii characters in the SOAP Response. The web service is executing successfully in soapUI, but I can't read the results because of the hex characters.

Any ideas?
